ATENDIMENTO A PACIENTES COM TRANSTORNOS MENTAIS PELOS CIRURGIÕES DENTISTAS:
UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

Objetivos: A pesquisa buscou identificar aspectos relacionados ao atendimento realizado pelos cirurgiões dentistas (CD) a pacientes com transtornos mentais (TM), através de uma revisão integrativa sobre as evidências disponíveis na literatura. Métodos: Foram realizadas buscas por artigos em inglês e português, utilizando os operadores booleanos OR, AND e nas bases National Library of Medicine (PubMed/Medline) e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). Resultados: foram encontrados 289 artigos do PubMed e 274 na BVS, com base nos critérios de inclusão/exclusão, 7 foram selecionados e lidos na íntegra. Conclusões: Este estudo agrega que os serviços de saúde dentária para as pessoas com transtorno mental grave requerem um trabalho integrado, com políticas de apoio e alocação de recursos, educação interdisciplinar, práticas colaborativas entre odontólogos e outros profissionais de saúde, bem como demonstra um despreparo do cirurgião dentista no atendimento a este público. É sugerida a educação continuada dos cirurgiões-dentistas e melhorias no sistema de saúde.
